HOW'S YOUR MENTAL GAME?

Take the PEP test and find out!
(PEP = Performance Evaluation Program)

WHAT PEP MEASURES:

9 C'S OF A CHAMPION

Developed by Sports Psychologists to measure the presence of proven essential traits an athlete must possess to become a champion. Those characteristics include: coordination, conditioning, coachability, confidence, concentration, consistency, control, commitment, and courage. This is also the part of the PEP where the athlete reveals their perception of themselves, which can be very valuable to a coach. The 9 C's gives the athlete feedback on how to improve.

TEST OF ATTENTION AND INTERPERSONAL STYLE (TAIS)

Developed by Dr. Robert Nideffer in 1976, this test measures the different aspects of an athlete's ability to focus and concentrate. Some of those aspects are: ability to deal with distractions, ability to shift focus from broad to narrow and back, and how the athlete's thought process affects their attention level. The TAIS is well validated and is sport specific, currently used by the NBA. The athlete receives feedback on where they rank and how they can improve.

PROFILE OF MOOD STATES (POMS)

POMS was developed by Dr. Douglas McNair. The POMS measures the mental emotional state of an athlete before and during competition. The emotional state of high level athletes includes calm, in control, relaxed and highly alert. The PEP profile compares the athlete to elite level athlete and offers suggestions for reaching their ideal high performance state. The POMS also provides feedback on burnout, clarity of purpose, and ability to set and attain goals.

LEARNING CHANNELS INVENTORY

The PEP uses a basic Learning Styles Inventory modified from several sources to attain a general picture of the athlete's dominant learning and practice style. It provides information on whether the athlete is a visual, auditory, or kinesthetic learner. The learning channels inventory basically tells the coach how best to teach an athlete. Example: Kinesthetic athletes tend to look away and not make eye contact when listening. Sometimes coaches view that as the athlete not paying attention.

TEAMS: Receive team reports that include grouping of individual learning styles, group strengths, group weaknesses, group presentation (how to present this to your group), etc.
