2007 CAMP ALUMNI

Stephanie Brown: Congrats to Stephanie for breaking 5 min in the mile not just once but twice this indoor season. She ran her first 4:56 1600 meter in mid January and by the way came back with a 2:17 800M and then came back again to run a 59 400m (just a 20 min recovery). Next she ran a 4:58 in late February and what is more exciting is that she ran a 2:11 800M after that. Stephanie has proven herself as a solid SUB5 miler, and by the way she is only a Junior!!!! Look out for Stephanie this spring!

CARLY PEDERSON: NATIONAL AAU CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPION 2007 Congratulations Carly!!!!!

Ali Keith: A huge congrats to Ali Keith for winning the Hawaii State Cross Country Championships.

Stephanie Brown: Congrats to Stephanie for placing 2nd in the Illinois A State Cross Country Championships. Stephanie came through some rough times this season but showed the true champions that she is by sticking with it and not giving up.

Kailyn Kuzmuk :Congrats to Kailyn for her incredible gutsy race at the IHSA AAA Cross Country Championships. Kailyn became all state and lead her Andrew team through an awesome season. Congrats Kailyn!!!

Kelly Kester: Kelly took off more then a minute from her time last year. She got her 2 mile time down to 18:49 and did it at the end of the season. She won her regional and went onto state. Kelly also took her entire Lemonte team down to state as well! Wow that is so awesome!! Congrats Kelly!!

Kasia Walczak: Kasia took off an impressive 4 minutes off her 3 mile time this last cross country season. Kasia lead her Lemonte team to a 17place finish at the IHSA AA Cross Country championships. Way to go Kasia!!!

Katherin Rehn: Congratulations to Katherin for her outstanding performance at the IHSA state AAA cross country championships. Katherin, like Stephanie, had some struggles over the season but never gave up on herself nor her team. Katherin put her energies into motivating her team and over came adversity to run an impressive 18:06 and #3 for her team. Lyon's Township came in 2nd overall. Way to go Katherin and keep on motivating others and yourself!!!

Michelle Stratton: Congratulations for leading your Naperville North team to a 3rd place finish at the IHSA AAA cross country championships!! You then capped off your season at the Foot Locker regional with an impressive top 50 finish!! Congratulations Michelle!!!!

Heather Olson: A camper from 2006 who had an awesome season and placed 7th at the IHSA state cross country championships. Heather ran a very impressive race and went undefeated all season until state. Heather set the course record this year at Palatine! Congrats Heather!!

Danielle Dickman: Congratulations Danielle from Vernon Hills for your ALL STATE IHSA AA cross country championships. Danielle placed 17!! WAY TO GO!'

ANDREW, LEMONTE, AND LIBERTYVILLE: All teams that came to the SUB5 camp this last summer Congratulations for your outstanding seasons. Every team qualified to run down at the IL state championships. Hard work and determination pay off!!

Carly Pederson: A big congratulations goes out to Carly Pederson who won the IESA Class AA State Championship in a record time of 11:20. Carly is just a 7th grader so she is one to watch out for in the future.

Megan O'Brien: Congratulations to Megan for placing 4th at the IESA Class AA State Championships. She ran a very brave race and gave it her best!! Way to go Megan!!!

Hanna Winter: Congratulations Hanna for your outstanding 7th place performance at the IESA Class A State Championships.

Brooke Gordon: Congratulations Brooke for your outstanding 11th place finish at the IESA Class AA State Championships.

Caitlin Kelly, Shannon Cooney, Sara Barry, Athena Kulb: Congratulations for your awsome races at the IESA race this past weekend. I am very proud of all of you!!!

HEATHER OLSON: Congratulations to Heather for winning the N.C.S Conference Title this past weekend in Wacconda, IL!! She showed her domanent sytle once again.

Chrissy Pacewicz: Congrats on getting your goal time so early in the sesaon. Chrissy has been tearing up the races!

Meghan O'Brien: Congrats Meghan on your awsome 3rd place finish at Shiller Woods! Watch out for Meghan at the ISEA State Championships!

Catilin Kelley: Congrats on your awsome 3rd place finish in Crystal Lake, IL

Mallory Abel: Congrats on your 1st place finish at the Addams Flight races in the number 1 position!! She came in right behind my own son!!

Stephanie Brown: Congrats on winning the Quix Bix road race in Davenport, IA!!

2006 camp Alumni

Stephanie Brown: Congrats on winning the Illinois State 800 Meter Championships!! Way to go!!

Stephanie Hughes: Congratulations Stephanie on winning your conference championship and the illinois state regional! Good luck at state. Also congrats on your all amercian junior olympic track and field award!

Katherin Rehn: Congratulations Katherin on winning your illinois state regional. Good luck at state.

Amanda Labuz: Congrats Amanda for qualifying out of your regional championship. Good Luck next week.

Elizabeth Meier: Congrats Lizy for coming in 2nd at your conference championship!!

Stephanie Simpson: Congrats Stephanie on your 2nd place finish at the Illinois state LSA Championships!

Chelsea Bolton: Congrats Chelsea on winning your conference championship!! Way to go!

Katherin Rehn: Katherin left camp and went onto the Junior Olympic National Championships where she recieved All American honors in the 3000 Meter race. Katherin took a short break after her long track season and came out of the blocks to win her first two high school races taking the all time best time at Lyon's township high school.

Elizabeth Meier: Elizabeth also left camp and went onto the Junior Olympic National Championships where she placed an impressive 2nd in the Steeple Chase. Eliabeth is only a Sophmore but one that is to look out for in the Illinois area.

 

2005 Camp Alumni

Stephanie Brown: Stephanie does it again. She ran an impressive 2:12 at the Illinois state track and field championships to win the A division. She went on to run 5:01 mile at the end of the season. She is only a freshman so look out for Stephanie in 2006/2007.

Stephanie Brown: Stephanie has had an outstanding indoor and outdoor season this year. She won the 800 at the Prep Top Times Meet (Illinois representation of the state meet) in a time of 2:18 and she is only a freshman. Stephanie has taken her performance to the outdoor track and continues to succeed running an impressive 2:16 in the 800 and 5:17 in the 1600. Look for Stephanie at the state meet and then back at camp this summer.

Meghan Braffet: One of SUB5's counselors and a prior camper ran awesome at the ACC Collegiate Track and Field Championships this spring by winning the 10,000M and then coming back 2 days later to score in the 5,000M. The 10,000 is a 25 lap race and it was Meghan's first time running it. Meghan currently runs for the University of Maryland. Congratulations Meghan and good luck at Nationals later this spring.

Vanessa Bain: I missed Vanessa at the State meet in Illinois. She ran an outstanding race to get 21st at the Illinois single A State Championships and ran an impressive 18:31. Congratulations Vanessa!!!!

Katherin Rehn: Katherine has set the cross country seen at her middle school on fire by setting a school record for the two mile at her conferance championships, running a 12:08. She also won the USATF Regional Championships and placed 5th at the AAU Regional Championships. She is off to nationals set for Dec. 10th. Good Luck Katherine!!! Quick update: Katherin placed 17th (ALL AMERICAN) at the AAU National Championships. Congratulations Katherin!!!

Katie Coppin: Congratulations to Katie Coppin for taking the University of Illinois to the NCAA National Championships. Katie has been on fire this year by running consistantly in Illinois's top 5. Katie is a success story because she was not one of Illinois top recruites. In fact, she was a recurited walk on. Katie had high expectations of herself and has worked hard. In just her Sophmore year Katie has turned the heads of many collegiate runners with her outstanding performances this last cross country season. Katie is a great example of what hard work, dedication, and persistance can do for you. Katie has many more exciting years ahead of her at the University of Illinois and we look forward to follow her success. Katie was a two time camper and a counselor for SUB5.

STEPHANIE MEDIA: Stephanie was a former counselor for SUB5. She had the season of her life last cross country by placing 3rd at the NCAA Division I National Championships. Stephanie runs for Notre Dame and is expected to have an even better track season. GOOD LUCK STEPH!!!!

LAUREN HABERCORN: Lauren ran a very exciting race at the Illinois State AA cross country championships to WIN her 1st state title. Lauren is only a sophomore and has a bright future in front of her. Cab't wait to see you at camp again this summer.

SHANNON PHELAN: Shannon ran a very courageous race at the Illinois State AA cross country championships to place an impressive 2nd. Shannon came from behind with less then 400 to go to take over the 2nd spot and help her team, Naperville North, win their 2nd straight high school AA championships.

NAPERVILLE NORTH HIGH SCHOOL: Congratulations to the entire Napervile North Team for winning their second straight Illinois AA State cross country championship. Hope to see you back again next summer.

RYAN EICHELBERGER: Congratulations to Ryan for running an outstanding race to place 3rd at the Illinois State A cross country championships.

TRACY LOTTER, AMANDA BEGGS, AND STEPHANIE BROWN: Congratulations on making the Illinois All State Team!

 

2004 Camp Alumni

COACH SANDY MORAN: In just her first year of coaching cross country at Humbolt State University in Arcata, CA Sandy has produced not one but two NCAA qualifiers to run in the National Championships. Both her men took a trip to the National Championships and they both are returning next year. Congratulations Coach Sandy!!!

TABITHA VOLLING: Camp counselor who help get the University of Illinois a birth to the NCAA National Division 1 collegiate cross country championships. UofI has not been to the National Championships in many years. Tabby in her final season wearing the University of Illinois jersey helped guide her team to an NCAA Championship! Congratulations Tabby!!

MAUREEN SCOTT: Camp counselor who helped guide her team to an NCAA Division 1 National Championships. Maureen had an outstanding season earning ALL SEC honors and leading her team, the University of Arkansas, to the NCAA Championships. Congratulations Maureen!!

STEPHANIE MADIA: Former Counselor from Notre Dame placed an impressive 23rd at the NCAA Division 1 National Championships. That make Stephanie an ALL AMERICAN runner. Congratulations Stephanie!!!

STEPHANIE BROWN: Stephanie had a great season. She lowered the school record she set last year from 11:41 to a mind numbing 11:22. The course is asphalt and she just loves running it. She also won her IESA Class A Sectionals and finished 3rd at the State Finals. Stephanie will just be entering high school next year and is looking forward to the 3 mile courses. She has always done well at the 5K events and is hoping that it will carry over. Congratulations Stephanie.

BRENNA WILLIAMSON: Brenna had to overcome high odds to come close to getting her goal of All State in Texas. Brenna became iron deficient early in her season and she started to loss hope that she was going to achieve her goal. But, Brenna overcame the odds and had the race of her life at the state championships and got 12th overall. Though she did not receive all state honors Brenna came very close and to do that with the illness she had is one for the books. Congratulations BRENNA!! Also, Brenna's team was ranked 5th in the nation for top girl's cross country teams!!

JULIE JARRETT: Congratulations Julie for receiving all area runner up honors and running in the 18:30's in your last couple of 3 mile cross country races!! Keep up the great work

NAPERVILLE NORTH: CONGRATULATIONS TO THE ENTIRE TEAM for winning the Illinois State Cross Country team class AA Championships.

SHANNON PHELAN: A member of the Naperville North Team placed 3rd as an individual at the Illinois State Championship meet. Congratulations!!!

ALLI GRISSON: Also a member of the Naperville North Team, Alli has achieved her goals that she wrote at camp and placed 22nd at the championship meet. Congratulations Alli!!

Ryan Eichelberger had an outstanding race placing 2nd at the Illinois State Cross Country Championships Class A. Ryan is only a Sophomore. Look for her in the future!

Hannah Hogan: Congratulations Hannah for your outstanding 10th place finish at the Illinois State Class A Cross Country Championships. Hannah is only a Freshman - look for her too in the future.

AMANDA BEGGS: Congratulations Amanda on your outstanding 21st placing at the Illinois State Cross Courntry Championships Class AA!!

Rachel Blisset ran one of her best races at her conference meet to win the JV division. Rachel made it an exciting race by winning it in the chute!! She has secured a spot on her varsity team to run at the Illinois state regional meet the next weekend. Congratulations and good luck!!!

Sara Konkey is an Indiana runner who did not know where she would fit on the team coming in as a freshman. Well, not only has Sara lead her team she has gone undefeated in Indiana as of late September. Way to go Sara and good luck with the rest of your season.

Madigan Just finished an amazing 5th place at the prestigious Palatine Invitational. What makes this finish even more amazing is that Madigan is just a freshman. Way to go Madigan!!

2003 Camp Alumni

 STEPHANIE BROWN: Congratulations to Stephanie for winning the Illinois Junior High State Championships (IESA AA Track) in the 800. She set a personal record of 2:25 on her way to victory. Stephanie also got 3rd in the 1600 with another personal record of 5:25. Stephanie is only in 7th grade. Watch for more of her in the future and she is returning to camp this year!!!

NATALIE PIPER: Former two time camper currently running for Barrington High School. Natalie went down to state in the 4 x 800 Meter relay team. The Barrington girls won the IL State AA Championship in record time of 9:13.62. Natalie set a personal record time on her leg of 2:18 (she is just a freshman this year). The 9:13.62 is one of the top ten fastest 4x800 meter teams in the country right now. Congratulations Natalie!!!

HANNAH HOGAN: Congratulations to Hannah for winning the (Illinois) IESA Championships this past Cross-country season. Read it in her own words, "Dear Janet, I just wanted to let you know that I met my goal (written at camp). I wrote that I wanted to win the IESA state championships. I'm proud to say that after two straight years of runner-up that this year I won. I also hit my pr this year of 11:41. I also hit my pr in 5-k's this year of 18:54. I also managed to set several course records this year on my way to having being undefeated. Ihis past year has been pretty good for me and part of that I owe to your camp. I can't wait to attend this years camp. I'll see you again this year alumni 2003 hannah hogan ". SUB5 wants to congratulate Hannah and wish her the best of luck in her upcoming track and field season.

STEPHANIE BROWN: Congratulations to Stephanie who finished a fantastic 4th place at the IESA Cross Country State Meet in Illinois. Stephanie has been burning up the cross country scene setting a 2 mile school record of 12:23 last year and lowering it to 11:41 this year. Stephanie's goal this year was to be top 5 at the IESA and she wrote that goal at camp last summer. She placed 6th in the state sectional meet and was very concerned she would fall short of her goal. Stephanie did not give up. She went home and got out her camp binder and worked on her "Mind-Ft" skills. Stephanie came back the next week and ran the best race of her season to get 4th and hit her goal. Her mind is already working on next years goals. GOOD LUCK STEPHANIE!!

TRIAD TEAM: With only 5 members on their team and 4 who came to camp, the Triad team qualified out of their regionals to run at the Illinois State Sectional Meet. They had an outstanding season and are planning a trip to Texas to visit their cabin mates from last summer.

SHELBY BRICE: Congratulations to Shelby from Team Triad for placing 2nd at the Illinois State Sectional meet to run at the State Championships on November 8th. Good Luck Shelby.

KARA MENZEL: Kara, from Florida, had an outstanding cross country season placing 1st at the Central Florida Conference Meet, 6th at her district meet and 10th at her state regional meet. Kara will be running at the Florida State Championships on November 8th and she is only a Freshman.

ALYSSA STEVENS: Congratulations to Alyssa for hitting her goal she wrote at camp. She wanted to break 8 min mile pace in a 3 mile run. She did it by averaging 7:55 pace and placing 2nd at Fox Cities.

 

Congratulations goes out to the following 2002 Camp Alumni!

Anna Chase: Anna had an amazing indoor season finishing 3rd at her Virginia State Championships in the mile with a blazing 5:15 and finishing 6th at the Nike Indoor Classic with a 3200M time of 11:00 flat. What is amazing is that Anna does most of her training by herself and she is only a freshman. We will see a lot from her in the future! Congratulations Anna!

Nicole Melice: Nicole was a counselor for SUB5 over the last two years. She made a big breakthrough this winter in her own racing. Nicole placed 1st at the Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Championships in the mile and also scored in the DMR, 800M, and the 4 x 400M. She also set a personal record of 5:03 in the mile - previous record was 5:09 (Nicole's race is the 800M). After the conference meet Nicole's head coach told her she is her new hero! Way to go Nicole!

Shannon Dawe and Jen Blank: Shannon and Jen and their team had a five man average of 20.01 in the 5K at the Holmdel coarse in New Jersey. The team had their best cross country season in school history. Also Shannon and Jen and two other members of their team broke the school record of 9:49 and ran a 9:42 in the 4 x 800 Meter event. That time qualifies them to run in the prestigious Penn Relays later this spring. We wish them the best of luck!

Trisha Humphrey - Congratulations to Trisha for qualifying to the Illinois State A state Championships and being All State as a Freshman! Way to go Trisha!

Anna Chase - Congratulations to Anna for completing 2 of her 3 goals written on the puzzle piece from camp. Anna got an amazing 2nd place finish at the Foot Locker South Regional Freshman race and set a personal record in the process.

Kara Anderson - Kara has been named to California's 2nd team all state going into the 2003 season for the 800M . Kara is only in 8th grade and she has made the high school rankings! Congratulations Kara!!

Michelle Wittbodt - Michelle took an amazing 1:46 seconds off her PR at the Michigan State Championships. She ran a blazing 19:34 and did most of her training this summer on her own!! Michelle's old PR was 21:10. Congratulations Michelle!

Lindsay Putnam - Lindsay came in 12th at the Florida State Championships and her team won the title! Congratulations Lindsay!

Jen Murhey - Congratulations to Jen for qualifying to your 2002 Pennsylvania District Championships.

Maureen Scott: Currently runs for the University of Arkansas and was All SEC conference and team champion as a freshman. Maureen will be coming back to camp this year as a counselor.

Lori King: Currently runs for the University of Notre Dame who placed 3rd at the NCAA Division I national championships. Lori placed 60 overall in her freshman year. Lori will be a counselor at the 2003 camp.

Brooke Brenner: Congratulations Brooke for being Illinois All State Cross Counrty. You are truly a star!

Illinois 2002 State Qualifiers: Single A: Brooke Brenner, Jenny Zylstra, Justine Kinsman. Double A: Meghan Braffet, Kelly Gallagher, Emily Katalinich, Tracy Lotter, Bridget McLesse, Elizabeth Ambrus, Jenny Nicholes, Mary Scott, Shaina Masso, Meegan Sanders, Jenny Nichols, Trisha Humphrey (*some were past campers).

NATALIE PIPER: Natalie placed 14th at the 2002 Illinois State Cross Country Championships. It was a huge improvement from last years 69th. Congratulations Natalie!

NATALIE PIPER: Natalie left camp and went directly to a swim meet. She set two personal records in the 50 Free Style and the 100 IM. Congrats Natalie!

50 Free style: Before-33.72 After-32.90

100 IM: Before- 1:30.56 After-1:29.21

CHRISTINA ADDUCI: Christina left camp on Thursday and over the that weekend she took 18 seconds off her average mile pace in a 5K (3.1 miles). Overall she took 54 seconds off her 5K time. Congratulations Christina!

 

 2001 CAMP ALUMNI!

LORI KING - Lori is not a past camper but an athlete that I just recently coached for indoor track. In her first full high school indoor track season Lori placed 5th at the Nike Classic and earned herself "All American" recognition from the National Scholastic Sports Foundation. Lori is also one of Illinois Top soccer players. She will be attending the University of Notre Dame next fall. Lori will be running for ND.

2002 OUTDOOR TRACK RESULTS

The 2002 National Elite rankings just hit and Kara Anderson has been ranked #1 in the 800 and 1500Meters in the Youth Girls Division by the United Stars Track Club. Congratulations Kara!

Dacia Barr won the Virginia State 800 Meter Championships in class AAA. Congratulations Dacia!

2002 INDOOR TRACK RESULTS

KARA ANDERSON - Kara does it again. She broke 3 AAU Indoor Youth records in the 800, 1500, and 4x400M relay. Kara ran a 2:24. 12 to place 2nd in the 800 (old record 2:26.43), placed 1st in the 1500 with a very fast 4:58.05 (4:58.52 previous record by previous IL camper Jamie M. Owensby from Arkansas), and finally the 4x 400 meter relay Kara's team ran a blazing 4:16.72 (previous record 4:31.07).

LINDSAY VAN ALSTEINE - Lindsay comes back from an outstanding cross country season to place a very impressive 5th place at the New Jersey Meet of Champions in the 3200. Congratulations Lindsay!

RAVEN LEA: Congratulations to Raven Lea for a very impressive 7th place finish at the New Jersey Meet of Champions in the 3200M. Congratulations Raven.

JEN BLANK: Congratulations to Jen Blank for her outstanding 12th place finish at the New Jersey Meet of Champions in the 3200M. Congratulations Jen.

SHANNON DAWE: Congratulations Shannon for qualifying into the New Jersey Meet of Champions in the 800M.

2001 CROSS COUNTRY RESULTS

KARA ANDERSON - Kara set a new youth Junior Olympics Cross-country Pacific Coast Record of 15:07.45 in the 4K. The previous record was 15:41. Kara is only 12 years old. Keep an eye out for this one!

LINDSAY VAN ALSTINE - Lindsay won the New Jersey 2001 Meet of Champions. She ran her PR on the Holmdel Course to grab her 1st victory!

COURTNEY EPPS - Courtney placed 3rd in the New Jersey 2001 Cross Country Meet of Champions!

JEN BLANK - Jen placed 13th in the New Jersey 2001 Cross Country Meet of Champions!

DACIA BARR - Dacia placed 6th in the Virginia AAA 2001 Cross Country Championships!

JESSICA ARTONEAND - Jessica became all-district this year in the AA Northwestern District in VA!

WARREN COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL - Warren High had 4 girls place in the top 15 at district placing 2nd and advancing to regionals.

2001 Camp Staff Alumni:

MAGGIE GUINEY - All-American Maggie Guiney placed 10th at the NCAA Division 1 2001 Collegiate Cross-Country Championships!

2002 OUTDOOR TRACK

MAUREEN SCOTT - Maureen placed 1st at the Illinios Class AA State Championship meet in the 1600 Meter run and 2nd in the 3,200 meter run.

BROOKE BRENNER - Brooke placed 6th in the 3200 Meters and 9th in the 1600 Meters at the Illinois Class A State Track and Field Championships!

 

2002 INDOOR TRACK

MAUREEN SCOTT- Maureen placed 1st at the Illinois Prep Top Times 3200M Run and 3rd in the 1600M Run. Prep Top Times Meet represents the Illinois Indoor State Championships. Maureen is a two time camper.

NICOLE FEEST - Nicole placed 4th in the 2001 Illinois AA Cross Country Championships!

2001 CROSS COUNTRY

MAUREEN SCOTT - Maureen placed 7th at the Illinois AA Cross Country Championships!

LESLIE McCUE - Leslie placed 6th in the Illinois A Cross-Country Championships!

MEGHAN BRAFFET - Megan placed 17th at the Illinois AA Cross Country Championships!

2001 TRACK AND FIELD

MAUREEN SCOTT:  - Maureen has set the indoor track world on fire in Illinois with her 5:07 1-mile and 11:29 2-mile times. Maureen, from Mahomet High, has been working hard and you will her more of her as the season goes on!

LINDSAY SCHWARZ: - Lindsay from Lake Zurich, is coming on strong in her track season with an opening time of 5:31 at her only indoor track meet this season. You are sure to see more of Lindsay in the Illinois track scene.

MEGHAN BRAFFET - Congratulations to Meghan who is tearing up the Illinois cross country scene. She placed 7th as a sophomore at the 2000 Cross Country State Championships AA Division.

LAKE ZURICH: Congratulations to Lake Zurich High School who placed 9th at the 2000 Illinois State High School Championships AA Division. Lindsay Schwarz helped lead her team to their outstanding state championship run. Elise Stott, Margot Otten, and Kay Yien all former campers helped guide their team to an outstanding cross country season.

WHEELING HIGH SCHOOL: Wheeling High had an outstanding cross country season this year. They became Mid- Suburban League East Division Champions. Laura Spencer, Jessy Swaykow, and Lauren Zimmer congratulations on all your efforts this season.
